Tunes Cloud Service Delayed

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Sources told CNet that if ‘in the cloud’ music features from Apple are released in the next few months, they will probably be “modest in scope,” rather than more robust offerings as previously rumored.

As most of Best Cloud Server readers know, huge speculation about the possibility of an iTunes streaming service has been rumoring around the web for the past year. There have even been huge rumors and people going on the record saying http://www.myservice.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/itunes_cloud1.jpgoutlandish things.  In January, one music industry veteran went on record saying that an upcoming version of iTunes would make users’ iTunes libraries “available from any browser or net connected ipod/touch/tablet.”  Though we don’t know if this is true, it would be amazing and I certainly think it’s very possible.

Although CNet claims that causes for the delay remain unclear, licensing issues and personnel changes may be a large part of the problem. According to the report, Apple “still hasn’t obtained the licenses needed to store or distribute music from the cloud.”  I think that is going to be their problem for the rest of time.  Licensing issues are always going to be coming up.  They haven’t even talked about cloud server security yet.  That’s a road that we’ll have to conquer another day.

EvoApp’s New Cloud Servers

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

EvoApp  announced it has selected the Stratus trusted cloud servers to host its production environment. EvoApp deploys its offering on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis, enabling its clients to use advanced, in-depth analytic tools that help them better understand their clients’ requirements, increasing customer satisfaction and reducing churn.  By deploying its service through Stratus, EvoApp obtains increased performance, decreased latency and is able to flexibly provision additional server space on an as-needed basis. http://gallery.mailchimp.com/f5eb95c271af1582b1a86ee4c/images/evoapp.jpg

“We were previously running our applications using another cloud provider, but it wasn’t meeting our needs or the needs of some of our largest clients,” said Joe Davy, EvoApp’s chief executive officer.  “We found ourselves facing disconnects between our application and web servers.  Moreover, our web application servers and database servers were at different locations, response time was not what our customers expected.  We needed to ramp up our infrastructure; the Hosted Solutions cloud solution provided us with the ability to do so.”

EvoApp new cloud servers were selected because of their strong background in VMware, Sun, EMC, Cisco, F5 and Juniper at its five SAS-70 Type II data centers located along the East Coast.  “We knew that speed was a crucial element for EvoApp, and designed an implementation that would exceed their needs,” said Kevin Farnham, Hosted Solutions’ regional director.  “We were able to develop a solution that cut EvoApp’s data transmission time by 90 percent and load times by 30 percent.”  “Hi-Touch was a critical factor in our decision to choose Hosted Solutions,” Davy noted.  “Having access to real-time support around the clock gave us a much higher degree of confidence.”

Make Money With Cloud Hosting

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I have gotten a lot of different questions about how to make money with cloud hosting.  What do you think, how can a person make money with cloud hosting?  There is so much money being tossed around out there in the cloud hosting world.  Think about it?

BluHost pays out $90+ to affiliates to drive them a sale of $6.95/month.  They won’t even break even until year 1. Then they’ll make big bucks.  Take Rackspace, they pay out 5% for life on the server that you sell to your clients.  ReliaCloud pays out $25 for a cloud hosting signup. So there are several ways you can make money online through cloud hosting.

Other ways you can make money online through cloud hosting is to use cloud hosting for your online business.  Think about it, if you are saving money switching to the cloud, that’s like making money online right?  When you save money you can put it to other things.  Cloud hosting is a great way to save some of that extra cash that you have been spending on your dedicated server or VPS server. Making money isn’t always about spending money, it can also be about saving money. Cloud servers are a great way to save money online.
