Living the Cloud Hosting Lifestyle

Monday, January 21st, 2013

Last week I had the chance to visit Affiliate Summit in Vegas.  Affiliate Summit is an affiliate conference that is hosted a couple times a year where you can meet all the affiliate marketing experts around the world. It was a great opportunity to meet up with some of the top hosting affiliate marketers in the world.  Many of them are living the cloud hosting lifestyle.  In this post I’ll explain what that is and how you can benefit from it!

I was able to meetup with Peter from Hostt where they sponsored an event where we got to race sports cars around a track for some of the top hosting affiliates.  Since I’m in the space I got invited to come out and have a blast.  In total I got to drive 3 different sports cars. Here is one of the cars that I got to rally around the test track.

Lamborgini Aventador LP700-4

Lessons Learned

There were a lot of premier hosting affiliates, most of them I knew personally and have relationships with but there were a few people that are referring A LOT of affiliate traffic to Hostgator and Bluehost as well as a few other bigger sites.  I was able to connect with all of these guys and establish real relationships with all of them.  There were some guys there that were doing 10+ accounts a day to the big players, that’s friggin awesome.  I got more insider info there on what they were doing to drive traffic.  There was one guy that had a blog talking about the TV show Shark Tank that was doing 3-4 sales a day, something I would have never thought to go after.

Organization was a little messy on the hosting company that put on the event.  I felt a little bit sad for them cause they spent $50K+ to put on this event and they really didn’t get to spend any time with the people that were in the cars.  They were literally only to talk with 2-3 people as they didn’t have anyone there.  I went out of my way to say thanks but didn’t get a ton of one-on-one time that I would have expected if I’d been putting on the event.  I went to their booth the next day and there were 8+ people there.  Where were they the day before?

Overall this was a killer event that I love writing about.  If you want to become a cloud hosting affiliate baller you need to push yourself to the limits.  You need to come up with interesting ideas and websites that will bring in good traffic. You have to be keeping up with cloud hosting and web hosting trends in general. Save people time and money and you will convert tons of traffic. Some people I met were getting tons of traffic from mobile… this is awesome as not many people are going after that traffic yet it’s converting for them around 30%… HUGE.

Keep on keeping on!

Saving Time And Money In The Cloud

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

cloud_host_by_vinnis-d33nylnAre  you looking to switch to the cloud?  If you are there are many important factors that you should pay attention to before switching to the cloud.  You can start saving time and money in the cloud but you should pay attention to these few tips in order to make the most out of cloud hosting.

Don’t Go With Cheap

Cheapest isn’t always the best option.  There are many hosting companies out there that are trying to pass off virtual hosting for cloud hosting.  They charge the typical $7.95 a month or something like this.  These are not cloud hosting accounts, you don’t have dedicated resources and your own IP.

Cheap cloud hosting accounts also typically have crappy hardware, you don’t want this.  You want the best hardware running your site possible so that your site stays up 24/7.  What if your site went down for an hour, what would you do?  What if it went down for a day?  Think about this when you’re trying to go after a cheap hosting account.  Even people that are new to the internet and cloud hosting can get good deals on hosting.

Use A Platform

I’ve spoken in the past about using WordPress or Blogger for your back end of your blog.  Many of these are very easy to use and can transition very easily from one hosting provider to the next.  Typically when transitioning from an old host to a new if you’re using WordPress you can do this within a couple minutes.  It’s also very friendly for SEO to use cloud hosting.

Using a platform also keeps everything in the right place and organized.  This helps not max out your servers ram and other things that keep your cloud hosting server up and working.

Most important above all is to stay up with your plugins, upgrades and tools to help things run more smoothly on your server.  This will help it run optimally and save you time and money with your new cloud server.

Education in the Cloud

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013

As bloggers, as many of me and my colleagues are, we are always keeping an eye on what the newest “thing” is out there.  Being on top of things online is probably one of the most important skills we develop.  Well, if you would allow me to flex my awareness muscles briefly, I would like to chat about a new type of model that is experiencing huge success.

Today we have resources to more online than we could ever dream of as little as 15 years ago. The two biggest successes of information sharing in the last 20 years are easily recognizable as Facebook and Google.  I would like to look at a more focused arena.  TareasPlus.com is one site that has impressed me immensely for the ideas that they are basing their model on.

There are millions of Hispanic Americans who are extremely skilled, and want to do what you or I do.  Blogging can be addictive!  TareasPlus is a company that is teaching these Hispanic Americans all of the skills they may have missed on, such as Mathematics, Science, Physics, and the other skills needed to pass high school exams, or equivalent certifications.  This allows for a much greater contribution to new areas of business, blogging and online work included.

The people at TareasPlus are also tapping into what I would call a wide open market of the cloud!  They have been able to get over 7 million views just in the last three months!  I would call this a huge opportunity.  We know for a fact that the number of Hispanics in America that need this education is huge, based even solely on this amount of traffic.  Obviously, we all know about supply and demand, and right now, the demand is huge, while supply is still in need of growth.  Thanks to this company, we are starting to see progress.

Whether people did not have the opportunity to learn these skills earlier, or they were just content where they were at, we have now seen a content delivery for learning that is starting to be unrivaled in these skills that are so badly needed.  When we are looking for ways to make money online, one of the first things we look for is the need in society for the service you are providing.  This guarantees a steady market for traffic.  I would suggest we all take a look at this site at www.tareasplus.com
