PEER 1 Hosting launches CloudOne Storage

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

PEER 1 Hosting announced today the launch of CloudOne Storage built on EMC Atmos.  CloudOne provides customers with flexible, pay-as-you-go online storage for data files and rich media from $0.15 per GB per month. Customers can upload, store and manage unlimited data through a control panel or via the standards compliant Application Programming Interface (API),  the web-based interface for file management and application deployment.

As Tim Varma, Vice President of Product Development at PEER 1 Hosting comments: “APIs have enabled organizations to create an open architecture for sharing content and data between communities and applications. In this way, content that is created in one place can be dynamically posted and updated in multiple locations on the web and, in the case of CloudOne, stored in locations of their choice. Add to this the access our customers have to free bandwidth on the PEER 1 SuperNetwork and the opportunities CloudOne presents over and above its competitors are clear.”

Continuing on the benefits, Varma, concludes: “Customers want universally accessible storage, but they also want to stay in control of their data and choose where they can store it as well as setting the levels of redundancy. CloudOne is engineered to overachieve against all of these requirements within a single solution and to offer customers the PEER 1 service guarantee on top. This product is another example of PEER 1 Hosting’s commitment to delivering hosting services based on best-of-breed technology to our customers at the best price.”

Hosting.com Launches Cloud Private

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Hosting.com announced earlier today that Cloud Private is now available to consumers. CloudPrivate  is a single-tenant, VMware-enabled compute infrastructure that includes licensing, monitoring and management of cloud servers in one or more Hosting.com Cloud Super Sites.

Hosting.com States:

Cloud Private addresses a previous gap in Hosting.com’s Cloud Portfolio – a private cloud solution that is fully managed through Hosting.com’s Customer Portal and Entourage Support team, and is capable of connecting to Hosting.com’s Hybrid Hosting solutions. Hybrid Hosting allows standalone cloud, dedicated and colocation components to run independently or as part of a network.

Hybrid Hosting provides businesses of all sizes with technology and cost benefits formerly reserved for large enterprises with their own datacenters. Hosting.com customers can connect their Cloud Private solution to their internal infrastructure or to Hosting.com’s public clouds to flex their infrastructure during a new project, seasonal spike, or for multi-site disaster recovery.

Craig McLellan, Hosting.com Chief Technology Officer, added, “Our engineering teams work vigorously to deliver multiple cloud hosting solutions to the marketplace for one reason – customer demand. Cloud Private is the fourth addition to our Cloud Portfolio and it is the most significant because it meets existing customer demands such as – datacenter redundancy in multiple Cloud Super Sites, on-demand resource availability in a private, managed cloud, and federation of internal clouds.”

Cloud Private virtual machines are offered with common Windows and Linux operating system options and managed by Hosting.com, reducing a customer’s management and costs associated with payments and maintenance. Additionally, Cloud Private customers receive free 24×7×365 expert Entourage Support.

Hosting.com customers access the secure web-based Customer Portal to manage and provision their Cloud Hosting solutions. The Customer Portal provides the ability to administer and create virtual machines, adjust resources, add services, and view and create alarms. Most modifications made via the Customer Portal are available within minutes. View the Hosting.com Review on Best Cloud Server.
