Hosting.com Selects Tinet to Provide Disaster Recovery for Cloud Hosting Customers

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Hosting.com Selects Tinet to Provide Disaster Recovery for Cloud Hosting Customers.  This choice will mainly be for disaster recovery solutions for its hosted hybrid cloud computing deployments. Tinet’s solution allowed Hosting.com to create one of the only public cloud infrastructures that connects clouds in multiple datacenters and geographies. This provides Hosting.com customers with the highest levels of security and redundancy available in the cloud computing marketplace.

“Tinet is one of the few providers that could offer us dedicated transport between all three of our cloud ‘SuperSites,'” states Darrel Hyde, Director of Network Security & Engineering for Hosting.com. “Our custom hybrid hosting solutions demand that our network provide low latency and guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs); Tinet’s network delivers on both. In addition, Tinet’s proactive network monitoring allows us to confidently design different types of cloud solutions including our Cloud VPS, Cloud Enterprise, Cloud Dedicated, and Cloud Private to ensure we meet the various cloud hosting requirements of our clients.”

“Our network is a leading backbone that leverages MPLS and Traffic Engineering to guarantee end-to-end Ethernet and VPLS connectivity across a global footprint,” continues Paolo Gambini, CMO of Tinet. “Our specialist focus enables us to optimize our backbone design and engineering to deliver high capacity IP and Ethernet services and therefore ensure strong SLAs and high degree of resiliency.”

Mezeo Software Welcomes Gladinet as a Cloud Partner

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Mezeo Software announced the addition of Gladinet as a Mezeo Ready Cloud Gateway Solution Partner. Gladinet offers two cloud gateway solutions: Cloud AFS and Cloud Desktop.  Cloud AFS, a file server cloud gateway solution with CIFS/NFS support, can now use any Mezeo-based storage cloud.  Cloud Desktop allows users to map to a Mezeo based storage cloud as a virtual network drive on their PC.

“We are excited about being part of the Mezeo Ready Program, and our joint cloud storage solution will benefit Mezeo customers by offering a cost-effective extension of their onsite storage,” said Gladinet co-founder Jerry Huang.  “The Gladinet and Mezeo solution will enable organizations to attach cloud storage to existing IT infrastructure to create a multi-tiered storage solution with low impact and faster backup or restore times.”

Mezeo is designed to make it easier for customers and service providers to find and deploy Mezeo Ready solutions.  The Mezeo Ready community is made up of service providers, customers, developers, cloud gateway providers and technology partners all focused on delivering cloud storage solutions.

“Solutions that enable cloud access, what we refer to as “cloud gateways or cloud clients,” are becoming increasingly important in the cloud computing space, and Gladinet’s solutions amplify the benefits of the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform by making it easier to seamlessly access, aggregate, and backup to the cloud,” said Steve Lesem, President and CEO of Mezeo Software. “As a Mezeo Ready Partner, Gladinet is an ideal solution for customers looking for flexible CIFS/NFS access to a Mezeo cloud.”

WSO2 Stratos Now with Open-Source Cloud Products

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

WSO2 earlier today announced the debut of WSO2 Stratos, an open-source middleware platform for cloud-based enterprise applications.

The on-demand or on-premises Stratos platform fosters building and deploying applications and services specifically for platform as a service (PaaS)-type deployments. Stratos goes beyond plain vanilla PaaS, however, by automating provisioning of enterprise servers, including the portal, enterprise service bus (ESB), and application servers. [Disclosure: WSO2 is a sponsor of BriefingsDirect podcasts.]

“At a time when IT developers can create a new application in one month, taking months to provision and deploy servers and systems no longer makes strategic or economic sense,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder and CEO. “WSO2 Stratos provides a complete middleware platform for delivering robust applications on private clouds, as well as migrating between and integrating with public clouds and on-premise systems—and there’s never cloud lock-in.”
