Overview:
Joyent’s experience in cloud computing began in 2004, when it was called simply Infrastructure as a Service. Its thousands-strong clientele range from startups to Fortune 500s, including WaterCooler, LinkedIn, and Gilt Group, and hail from all areas of the globe. It claims to be the only “true on-demand cloud computing solution” with air-tight scalability and reliability. Another distinction that Joyent makes about its services is that while other cloud vendors focus mainly on hardware virtualization, Joyent seeks to amp up their application virtualization.

Joyent operates out of four data centers in the US.

Summary:
The focal point of Joyent’s services is on providing customized cloud solutions for companies of all sizes and disciplines.

Reliability and Uptime:
Promise of continual, uninterrupted uptime and robust enterprise grade SLA guarantees.

Customer Support:
The Joyent SmartMachine (cloud computing) is basically priced and designed for people who know what they’re doing, which is essentially the disclaimer on their support page. Their Support Programs and Per-incident Support pricing boast some hefty numbers, and suggest that Joyent may not be the solution for just anyone who doesn’t have a designated and capable developer on staff.
