Not sure how many of you caught the Google I/O Conference last week but there were a lot of techies that did. Gladinet is one of the companies that is taking advantage of the new cloud storage, a company that will enable users to attach their Google Storage for Developers (G)S cloud with a File Server or desktop.

Google Storage for Developers is a cloud service that’s built on top of the Google’s cloud storage and networking infrastructure.¬† “Using this RESTful API, developers can easily connect their applications to fast, reliable cloud storage replicated across several US data centers,” said Jessie Jiang of the Google Cloud Storage for Developers team.¬†Other features include:

  • SSL support
  • Multiple auhentication methods
  • Access controls for sharing with individuals and groups
  • Read-after-wirte data consistency support
  • Web-based interface for storage management

Those taking full advantage of the offering include Gladinet. Gladinet says attaching GS provides benefits such as:

  • Reduced Cost – Cloud storage is paid incrementally, saving organizations money
  • Increased Storage – Organizations can store more data than on private computer systems
  • Highly Automated – No longer do IT personnel need to worry about keeping software up to date
  • Flexibility – Cloud computing offers much more flexibility than past computing methods.
  • More Mobility – Employees can access information wherever they are, rather than having to remain at their desks

“Combining these benefits with the performance gains from CloudAFS tiered storage management, the introduction of credential based access controls for published shares, and the ability to provide seamless data migration with immediate availability, creates a compelling solution for the organization with restricted IT budgets,” said the company.

It appears Gladinet is always helping their customers find the easiest solution, as Google continues to provide the backbone. Check out the solution here.
