Dec. 15, the last day most retailers can guarantee shipment before Christmas, was the busiest in 2009 with $913 million in sales, according to digital marketing firm comScore Inc. in Reston, Va..
Last year it was the second-biggest online sales day of last year’s holiday season with $887 million in transactions, according to comScore. More than 106 million people are expected to shop online today, compared with 96.5 million last year, according to the National Retail Federation. Some media predictions have today’s sales hitting $1 billion.
