SoundCloud Launches Cool New Features

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

SoundCloud is now allowing users to edit music and video on the fly through their computer or through your mobile phone.  Up until now SoundCloud has done a pretty incredible job of attracting well known artists to its platform such as The Foo Fighters, Kylie, Deadmau5, Moby and Caribou, who have used it to effectively socialise their music. But today Soundcloud releases the ability to record sound direct via the site, and via it’s updated iPhone app. That puts it into the realm of pure audio sharing platforms such as Cinch and Audioboo. In other news SoundCloud has also passed two million users.

Alexander Ljung, CEO and founder of SoundCloud is cleary aiming for a much bigger market than musicians when he says “SoundCloud gives them the platform to create and share anything from personal audio messages and blogs, to poetry, comedy and the sounds of the world around them.”

Google Apps and Microsoft Office Unite

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Over the past couple years we have heard that the cloud is the future of productivity and savings for everyone.  Today, Google is launching a brand new plugin for Microsoft Office called Cloud Connect.  Cloud Connect will tie Google Docs directly into the ubiquitous productivity suite, free of charge.

Editing a document in Word? It’ll automatically sync to your Google Docs account each time you hit ‘Save’. Want to share a preview of your document without worrying about what file format your coworkers can open? Just send them a link to the Google Docs file. The plugin supports Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and it’s a big deal for Google’s strategy with Docs. The new product is going live for Apps for Business customers today as part of a preview program (sign up here); everyone else will get it soon.
