Backupify, a cloud computing service that backs up data on other cloud computing services, has raised $4.5 Million in Series A funding co-led by Avalon Ventures and General Catalyst, with Lowercase Capital and First Round Capital participating in the round.

Backupify pricing starts:

  • 25GB Storage
  • 10 Google Apps Accounts
  • Upgrade to Plus and Premium
  • Basic Support

  • 100GB Storage
  • 25 Google Apps Accounts
  • Access to Beta Services
  • Upgrade to Premium
  • Priority Support

  • 250GB Storage
  • 50 Google Apps Accounts
  • Add Additional Accounts as Needed
  • Access to Beta Services
  • Priority Support

Bringing your backup to the cloud is huge these days and Backupify is bringing this to the average customer.  Although, they say their service is in the cloud but according to their pricing… you aren’t getting the benefit of their cloud servers.  I would be interested to see if their plans include bandwidth in and out.  Cloud servers can store a lot of data and only use the necessary amount of data but they can use a fair amount of bandwidth.  We’ll see what this $4.5 million does for this start-up that was founded in late 2008.
