Rackspace Launches Media Services Solution

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Rackspace announced today at SXSW 2010 the launch of a Direct-to-Consumer Web Infrastructure offering for the Music recording industry service.  This enterprise solution will provide open source web infrastructure to media segments. It looks like this will  all be offered in the cloud hosting space.

“Music recording labels have traditionally focused their resources on non-differentiating IT tasks or have outsourced their D2C applications to third parties in an attempt to support hundreds of Artists’ complex sites and infrastructures. Rackspace gives labels the freedom to focus on differentiating their businesses via application development and the support of business processes to meet the needs of both the Artist and the fan,” said Wes Laird, Director of Rackspace Media Services, Rackspace Hosting.

This is either perfect timing for Rackspace or just savvy marketing, because according to the economy the music industry is booming while others are lagging. Score one for Rackspace! Check out full article at Marketwatch.
