Symform Cloud Storage Gets $4Million VC Funding

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Symform closed late last night a $4 million round of venture capital financing led by Longworth Venture Partners, the startup said Wednesday. Symform is a developer of a distributed network framework for data backup and disaster recovery for small and midsize businesses.

“Symform’s unique cloud storage technology puts premium value on commodity hardware residing in millions of business locations worldwide while giving IT resellers a ‘must-have’ offering for their SMB customers,” said Longworth Venture Partners’ Nilanjana Bhowmik in a statement.

“We love Symform’s disruptive market position and we’re confident in its future success,” said Bhowmik. The startup released Symform Version 2.0 in June and expects to double its growth in 2010. Pretty good for starting in the Fall of 2009.

Savvis Symphony offers fully managed hosting services on top of fully managed, enterprise-class infrastructure. The Savvis Symphony suite of cloud services includes:

  • Savvis Symphony Dedicated – a private cloud service – which allows clients to tailor and scale their dedicated infrastructure at their own pace.

“An enterprise-class VPDC can be configured and deployed in about an hour from anywhere in the world, whereas it often takes up to 90 days to provision physical servers and build out the operating systems using typical IT processes,” said Bryan Doerr, chief technology officer at Savvis.
