The following video is “What To Look For In A Private Cloud Provider?” It goes into the basics of what a person or company should be looking for when investigating whether you should go to a large cloud server or a small cloud server.  How important is cloud hosting hardware, cloud hosting software?  Is it a one stop shop?  Do they have reliable cloud servers?

Also note, that I’m not saying that the person or cloud hosting provider that put this video out are the correct option but they do put out some very valuable points that you should pay attention to before selecting a cloud hosting provider!

CloudMade has raised $12.3 million in series B funding led by Greylock Partners earlier today. This brings the startup’s total funding to $15.7 million. CloudMade provides data and tools for developers and OEMs for mapping and navigation applications.  This is all done in the cloud, helping to save costs to developers and OEM’s.

CloudMade’s platform allows third parties to create applications with stylized and customized map tiles, fully featured turn-by-turn navigation, in-app advertising, local search and data sets relevant to thousands of consumer activities. CloudMade distributes its collaborative mapping, package maps, geo services and advertising to developers and businesses; its main customers are mobile developers, OEMs and network operators. Some of the 12,000-plus developers using CloudMade’s API include Skobbler, OffMaps, Geocaching, Trails, Ride the City, GayCities, Dopplr and MotionX GPS.

CloudMade will use this money to build the world’s most comprehensive map and geo database, and serve this data to developers, device manufacturers and mobile operators.

ZumoCast Cloud Files

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Well I guess you can say ZumoCast is a cloud files company. The new cloud storage service  streams files directly from your home desktop computer to another Internet connected device.  So it’s using the idea of cloud hosting and making money on it.  I would have to say, the best thing about ZumoCast is it’s cost, free. David Zhao, CEO of ZumoCast says eventually they’ll charge for additional services with a freemium product.

With HybridCloud storage solution, the product ZumoDrive connects consumers to their content across all of their devices. With our patent pending technology, ZumoDrive allows users to bring all their music, photos, videos, and documents with them even on mobile devices that are limited in capacity.  100 GB on ZumuDrive is $20/month.  Zecter (ZumoCast) was founded in 2007. The company has raised capital from Y Combinator and Tandem Entrepreneurs.
