Server Admins are Shifting to Cloud Support

With a push on cloud services, some IT staff are worried about job cuts. According to industry analysts however, the long-term risk to IT employees may not be as terrible as it might first appear. This Tech World report looks at staffing and other misconceptions about cloud computing related to performance, security, management, and cost.

“If you’re an IT administrator managing servers, applications and other in-house systems today, a shift to cloud computing could force you to learn new skills or eventually find a job elsewhere. But smart tech people already know their industry undergoes constant change, and should be ready to adapt.”

Clearpath Solutions Group Launches Cloud Solutions

Clearpath Solutions Group announced it has expanded its hosting division and launched a website highlighting its hosted cloud solutions and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings.

“The company’s goal for Clearpath Hosting is to work in partnership with clients to create custom cloud solutions and services specifically built for their enterprise environments,” said Nathan Reynolds, VP at Clearpath Hosting. “Focusing on expanding our cloud portfolio allows us to offer expertise and capability for clients, guaranteeing availability to data and systems.” Recent clients that have partnered with Clearpath Hosting to handle either data or application hosting requirements include United Negro College Fund (UNCF), Five Guys, The National Association of Counties (NACo), IMCA, Florida Memorial University, and Cordjia Technology.

GlobalSCAPE partners with Rackspace

GlobalSCAPE, Inc. enters into a Partnership Agreement with Rackspace Hosting to Deliver Cloud-Based Secure Information Exchange Solutions. Through the Rackspace’s infrastructure, GlobalSCAPE will deliver cloud-based managed file transfer solutions for the secure exchange of business-to-business data. The new GlobalSCAPE product offerings will allow customers to outsource all or part of their complex and demanding information exchange needs to reduce costs, improve operational efficiencies, track and audit transactions, and provide a greater level of security. All of this will be in the cloud. This service offered by GlobalSCAPE and Rackspace is scheduled to be launched in July 2010.
